thoughts

wow i loved Heejin Jang's Me and the Glassbirds! super evocative, lots of interesting textures to pick thru. abrasive & delicate. i think the strong storytelling makes for a relatively accessible noise album. i am late to the party on this one but better late than never.

Burning Love was decent, suitably goth, it isn't trying to reinvent the wheel which is ok. It's Raining Everyday is probably the track i liked most and that one is heading into shoegaze territory.

Onslaught Within went ok for me and the messaging is on point (kind of to be expected of the genre tbh). overall a raging, crusty storm yet they get into some thoughtful noodling for Death of Tomorrow as a little interlude as well. pretty nice.

i struggle with doom a lot but Bog Mönster's death doom blend is friendlier for my attention span, it's propulsive and beefy. v solid stuff. i can also see why a couple people made comparisons to Entombed.

for me Drüst's Disintegrate would be stronger without the atmospheric scene-setting title track but that's because i am impatient. the rest goes incredibly hard, and i am a sucker for those vocals.

enjoyed Desolation Colony a lot too, starts out techno then changes gear to industrial. i found myself wishing this release was longer because it ended abruptly!

it has been a good day of listening, where even the lows aren't so low.
