I think that multiprotocol is helpful, especially that you can link between them. However, they do not necessarily need to all be implemented at once (you can do one at a time), nor all (or any of them, even) as built-in features; for example, all of the protocols and file formats could be implemented as extensions, if this is found to be helpful. But, you will have to figure out what limits you want to have; you can't and shouldn't do everything, even if you do many things.

Of course, it's helpful, sometimes I miss FTP browser in FF and of course would like to use Gemini/Gopher protocols there, without leaving workspace. Just doubts, some protocols require another UI implementation. It reminds me Scroll protocol, adapted for the long texts, that maybe require some different app, comparing to Gemini..

Some protocols using a separate program (and also with some file formats) would make sense, since the browser shouldn't do everything. However, sometimes it might make more sense to use an extension to upload/download files and to display the document within the document area, that it can then be managed in mostly the same way, which also allows hyperlinking between them as well. However, some protocols/file-formats will also need extra commands available in the UI to handle them.

@ps I'm actually debating on what I want to do with Scroll protocol. I was actually very reserved in the additional features added to the text document, but I'm considering going more out-there with it.

Last time I tried the dillo plugin for Gemini it crashed dillo. I've always been a purist for getting the right tool for the job. Browser for browsing only. Nothing annoys me more than clicking on download for eg a song and the browser goes to a blank page with a little slider bar and a pause button. No. You're not my music player, browser. And you never will be. I don't mind the Lagrange approach of having Gemini, gopher, and other smol web integrated into a single app. I'd mind more Gemini in Firefox, but that's because it would be resource intense.

Dillo browser v3.2.0-rc1 release Seems that somebody still trust in good old web times. Found some Gemini plugins there, but never tried. By writing own browser, doubts, that multi-protocol feature is maybe most controversial idea, because by intention get everything, you got nothing.
