The end of the year, at any rate. The year I discovered Gemini (quite recently, too) and all of this smol web.
I'm spending these days visiting (my wife's) familiy, and with not a lot of time to spend with computers, but I've been using Deedum in my phone to discover spaces and gemlogs all around here (with Lagrange as a fallback when something makes Deedum explode).
I was right now reading @skyjake 's gemlog archives from 2020-2021
and it's being a pleasure, reading the story of Lagrange coming to life. What a great piece of software.
Meanwhile, while using Deedum as a daily driver, some of its shortcomings are becoming apparent. Maybe I'll continue trying to fix and improve it a bit, even if it's only for myself. Not sure how much its original author keeps an eye on it, but if something usable comes out of my fiddling, I'll share it with the rest of the class. maybe I'll even keep publishing "testing" versions via GitHub or so.
So, yeah, another year, full of good and bad things, is coming to an end. I got to meet you all, and finally investigated things like gopher, too. So that's cool. It's kinda funny that I explore these things after all these years, in my forties. I guess the web really has gotten to be too much.
I guess I'll stop here, wish y'all a happy new year, and thank you all for being a part of all this cozy space that is Gemini and surroundings.
Anything new you have discovered this year? Share with everyone!
