2022/0627/0700 — that butcherbird!

Our most vocal neighbourhood resident, every morning for the past few days there is a loud constant calling from either one or a pair of Grey butcherbirds[1], anywhere from in the garden to the neighbour's trees, to over the other side of the railway or a few houses away in the larger trees. This morning in the gloom at 7am one was perched in our leafless street tree, pretty much on eye level with me as I went out to get the newspaper. Still calling as I was only 2m away it paused to keep an eye on me, then started up again, all the while being answered by another across the street.
