2021/1123/1330 — lunch ravens

Now that I'm back at work — at least some of the time — I can resume my lunchtime walks around campus or off through the adjoining suburbs. Today was north-west, around the streets and through Carlson reserve. The sports oval was almost deserted, no people, no birds. Over at the western side the playground is fenced off and the playground is being removed & replaced by council workers, there are trucks and machinery all over the place and large piles of soil turned up as old play equipment has been removed and new replacements partly installed. The fences and open ground held a dozen very attentive Little ravens[1], calling constantly to each other and watching the ground and the workmen — diving down to dig for worms or insects when they could, retiring to sit up on the fence or in the trees when the people got too close for comfort
