Just finished my 2h session of “Wargame Wednesday” where I play Advanced Squad Leader against an online friend.

I’ve been thinking about Knives and @wandererbill was kind enough to say on Discord:

I’m totally looking forward to the finished sermon work! Honestly. I think I want a hardcopy of Knives 😁

This is a reply to my fearing that by now Knives is about 10 pages of pontifications.

The aesthetic I aim for is this: printed stuff, stapled together, protected by some tape. Would it feel different if my rules had stunning art or would I just be stunned and then it’d play just the same? Sometimes I wonder.

=> Halberds and Helmets booklets, printed, and some notes with printed tables cut out and stuck to a page

I am reminded of something I recently read somewhere: These days there are so many rule sets available, it’s easier to write your own than scouring the archives in search for the perfect fit.

Lulu at least can do spiral bound things from pdfs you can slap a cover on. Local printers too, presumably.

That would be an interesting project - a DIY OSR buffet. Pick and mix from a bunch of options. Perhaps make use of “AI” image generators for things like classes and bestiaries. I wonder if ChatGPT could make up rules text and monster descriptions?

Pick and mix sounds like Mosaic Strict, Some Mosaic Strict Sets Appear!, More MOSAIC Strict Sets!
