2022-02-10 English edition of Helmbarten: Halberts

I’m sitting at the table, construction crews outside working on the road, and I have sweaty ears under my headphones. How uncomfortable!

Remember Helmbarten, the minimal German Fantasy Traveller game I was working on for some 1:1 gaming a while back? Well, Frotz started working on an English translation! ❤

=> Helmbarten

Since “Helmbarten” is non-standard German spelling for Hellebarten, I figured I should also use a non-standard spelling for halberds for this game. How about “Halberts”?

You have a super simple RPG in front of you. All you need are some friends and two regularsix-sided dice, maybe some pen and paper, and you’re good to go. One of you will direct thegame. Is that you? All other players think of a person. The game manager (GM) dreams up aworld and situations for these imaginary people; your friends say how they react and the GMsays how the world reacts, and so it goes on and on. The story of these people is our story. – Halberts

=> Halberts

Some of the key elements in terms of rules:

This is very much a game of “what you get is what you get, now make the best of it.”
