O'Reilly Radar pointed me to a talk by Cory Doctorow on the European Broadcast Flag – DRM in Europe. I downloaded it onto my portable audio player and listened to it on the way home. Then I joined the EFF. 😄

I liked his message at the very end: Comparing CDs and DVDs – if you bought CDs for $1000 ten years ago, you can now transfer them to portable audio players, audio players in your car, make ring-tones for your mobile phones, etc. Your investment is protected, and all these extra features are your dividend. If you bought DVDs for $1000 ten years ago, your stuck, however. DVDs have DRM. You either broke the law when converting the videos for your portable video player, watching them on players from different regions, ie. you were cheated of your dividend.
